Something in the church bulletin got me thinking about creativity and how rare it really is. Most of us don’t even come close.
At the bottom is imitation. All most people ever do it copy others. They might put a little thought into it and make a cosmetic change, orange instead of blue shoes for instance. But they are still shoes.
A larger group of people might discover something new. This requires an awareness and a curiosity about the world around you. How many people watched lightening start a fire before someone came up with the idea of cooking. The fire was there. The meat was there. A curious person put them together and “discovered” cooking.
Then you have those people of rare genius who invent something new. What kind of imagination did it take to come up with the zipper? It didn’t just happen. The curious may put them in places you would never think about. The masses will make them different colors but the genius came up with taking the same old materials and doing something truly new.
To create is divine. It has the idea of something out of nothing. Even artists who “create” a painting, sculpture or symphony are working with tools they did not come up with. Only God can create color and perspective. Only God could come up with a chicken that laid an egg or a bunch of hatching eggs with both sexes represented.
Eat your heart out atheists.

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.
Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
