Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2015-46: Peter, Paul and Making Merry

I am tired of being Peter and refuse to be Paul.

We have a growing number of people on the government dole because everyone expects someone else to pay for their wants.  It is called robbing from Peter to pay Paul.  From EBT cards to subsidized housing, everyone is looking for the deal that will make someone else the sucker.  The politicians lead the parade, passing tax laws and establishing federal programs where everyone expects they will get more than they give.  It is called robbing Peter to pay Paul.  Although I still consider him a hold-your-nose-when-voting candidate, Mitt Romney was right when he talked about the 47%.  I think history will treat him like it did Dan Quayle on Murphy Brown:  Bork him on the front page and exonerate him on page 8 of the C section.

The government largess comes in everything from refunding tax money to people that never pay taxes to subsidizing the electric and hybrid cars of the bean sprout and tofu crowd.  Everybody loves it when they think it is free.  Every “free” item buys a vote and drives me closer to giving up.

Where is Peter going to be when Paul goes under?

We need to remind the parasite crowd not to kill the goose that lays the golden egg.

  1. I once read that most people will risk everything, rather than give up anything. I suspect that goes for human parasites, as well.

    1. Parasites have a way of dying when cast out on their own. Of course, if left in place the host can die.

      Grace and peace.

  2. They will be rioting at our doors because we're not sharing sufficiently. Beating a dead horse, as it were.

    1. I sometimes get to the point where I wonder why I bother saving and saving a nickle when I am taxed to buy dead horses.

      Grace and peace.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
