I finally voted absentee. My wife has been after me for ages but I have always gotten a certain satisfaction of walking into the polls and doing my civic duty. This time we were not sure where we would be on election day so I took the plunge.
It was not too painful and I didn’t need to stand in a long line. I understand that voter turnout in the People’s Republik was down so I may not have faced a long line like the rest of the country. It was that voter surge that brought Trump out on top. Even I know people that had not voted in ages who made sure they were registered and got involved.
Kalifornia did not get so excited. Why bother to vote when it is a done deal? Why take the time to vote for president when you know your candidate will win with 2/3 of the vote? Why vote for the Senate or House candidate when your choice was between two Democrats. It is kind of like asking a European to chose between Stalin and Hitler if the EU had been around in 1939.
It is time to remind the last American out of the People’s Republik of Kalifornia to turn out the lights and bring the flag. Actually that won’t be necessary because they will have run out of electricity already and the snowflakes will have burnt the flags.
Warning: As California goes, so goes the nation. May it never happen.

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.
Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
