We went to lunch today and the sign on the door said that today they closed at 6:00 P.M. That puzzled me until I realized the Super Bowl would be played today. I am guessing some time after 6:00.
I keep forgetting.
I will not be watching the Super Bowl this year. I would like to say it is because of the millionaires protesting how brutal life is in the United States by showing a lack of respect for our flag and national anthem. That would be a lie. The truth is I stopped watching the Super Bowl years ago. I almost wish I was still watching football on TV so I could make a protest, but it is not to be.
You might be better off if you took a walk or read a book. Enjoy your evening.

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.
Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

I've rarely ever watched other people doing sports of ANY kind. I figure if I'm not interested enough to do it myself, why on earth would I want to watch someone ELSE do it? And if I AM doing it, there won't be a TV handy.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am sure you have noticed how church is becoming a spectator sport.

Heh! I was pondering that question myself ...
ReplyDeleteMy last full sitting of a Super Bowl was 1986.
Per chance over the years during the regular season I witnessed most everyone inside a few sport-bars and restaurants stand en masse just before the National Anthem simply so they could race like heck to the restrooms so they would be back before the opening kickoff.
Maybe you have the beginning of an answer. Don't unlock the bathrooms at the stadium until after the national anthem.
DeleteWe will give you the footnote.
Grace and peace.
