Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2020-079: A Kindred Spirit

One of the sites that I enjoy reading is Filthie’s Thunderbox.  He tends to be a bit bar stool in his language but his points are well put.  He is a Canadian with a mind like a Texan.  Recently as he was responding to all the panic in the media he had a few quotes on responding to the hype.
“I think critically, I can read and I can do math.”

“If you start with the assumption that the media and politicians are lying, generally you are off to a good start.”

“Obviously our stats depend largely on who’s gathering them.”
He sums it up with something I heartily agree with,
“Sorry dude. It’s just the flu.

“Yes, under the right conditions it can kill you. You can also fall down the stairs, get hit by a bus at the crosswalk, or fall while getting out of the tub.

“For what it’s worth, I live and die at the whims of Darwin, Murphy (and, dare I say it), God. Same as everyone else. Okay, I’ll wipe and wash my hands, but that is where it ends.”
The only thing I can add is watch out for unicorns.

  1. I agree on his language. I used to follow him and quit for that reason. He seems to be a good guy otherwise and a smart one and I agree on his point today from what you say.

    1. It is amazing how many vulgar writers there are that never have anything to say. In some cases it is because if limited vocabulary, other times to shock. I am not easily shocked.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
