Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2020-105: Headlines: Shortage

Do you see a pattern in the media?

They showed pictures of cartloads of toilet paper and suddenly there was a run on toilet paper.

Lately we have been hearing about a meat shortage.  I keep seeing headlines about plants being shut down.  I am expecting there to be a big shortage of hamburger soon.

Yesterday I saw despair that there would be a shortage of CO2.  The concern focused on beer and soda but evidently the gas is used to purify water also.  I guess these people have not been in contact with the global warming lobby.  They are claiming an excess.

I saw a headline in an English newspaper about a coffee shortage.

The population responds accordingly.  When people hear about a shortage they panic and go stock up.  It doesn’t matter how much they really need or if there is any real reason for concern.  Because of their panic a real shortage develops.  Remember the gas shortage of the past.  There was no lack of gasoline but because people kept filling up their tanks every time the needle flickered the lines went around the block.

The media thrives of this kind of manipulation.

It reminds me of my brother dealing with my hypochondriac mother.  He and his wife would start talking about some symptom they had and see how long it took her to have the same problem.  It was amusing but also sad.

If the headlines are right I will run out of soda and coffee soon.  It will be the end of the world.  I will have to drink water.

  1. Now if we could just convince the world that there's a severe shortage of Bibles.

    1. That is a good one. You ought to do a post on that. I would even allow you to make it the KJV.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
