Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2020-254: Headlines: Trust the Scientists

Those English newspapers are the comedians of science.  As I was rolling through Instapundit I came across a link that read, “ These 24 planets may be more ‘habitable’ than Earth, astronomers say.”  Interesting.  I am a science fiction fan but also a realist.  I had a suspision that we were looking at an English source so I hovered my cursor over the link and found out I was wrong.

It seems the source was the New York Post.  The article was mainly nonsense though.  It seems to feel that some of these would be better than earth.  One point of nonsense was,

“Not only does the right surface temperature matter for the existence of water, but a surface temperature about 41 degrees warmer than that of Earth would be more suitable for life, thanks to the combination of higher temperatures and the presence of moisture.”
I don’t know about you but an average temperature 41 degrees higher might be great for mold in the shower but not for humans, at least not his human.  And have we forgotten how terrible global warming is?

Then there was this gem,
“Plus, one that has even 1.5 times our planet’s mass means it can keep its interior heating longer through radioactive decay, and would also have even stronger gravity to sustain an atmosphere (and hold down moisture) for a longer period of time.”
My understanding is that if the planet had 1.5 times the mass it would have 1.5 times the pull on my arches.

Keep in mind that these science wizards are the same people who bring you alerts on global warming and enhanced hysteria over the China Virus.  I guess it helps circulation.

  1. Like we said as kids, consider the source.

    1. I hope you are not questioning the veracity of science.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
