Opus 2021-003: Healthy Insights: It’s Everywhere

The China virus is going to get you.  Embrace that.  

You have an immune system.  Use it.

I view the China virus like I view the annual flu season.  It is coming.  The chances are I will be exposed.  Will I get the flu vaccine?  No.  I already have a more effective vaccine.  It is called acquired immunity.  It is based on a God-given physical reality that my body was designed to fight off the invaders that want to make me sick.  I don’t use the term “God-given” lightly.  Since I believe in creation rather than evolution I think we are designed for the world we live in.  Keep in mind that the difference between creation and evolution is not the science of “how” but the beyond-science of “Who”.  

How do you acquire this immunity?  That falls into what you can do and what you can’t.  You have no control over heredity.  Some people resist better than others.  The slave trade in West Africa was originally totally in the hands of native Africans.  The reason was that there were so many diseases locals were resistant to that would decimate the European invaders.  So the Dutch and Portuguese slave traders stayed near the coast and let the African slave traders bring the weak, defeated and unwanted to them.  

There are things you have little control over.  Don’t obsess over it but there are unwashed surfaces all around you.  We have been staying in hotels and time share for a combined time of over a month.  Next time you are in a hotel, look around and ask yourself, “Does the minium wage person who is tasked with sanitizing this room really get into every crack and cranny?”  If you say, “Yes” you probably also believe that Biden got more honest votes than Trump.

But there are things you can do to enhance your immunity.  There are the obvious things like developing a healthy diet and getting enough sleep and exercise.  You can avoid things like alcohol and tobacco.  It should be obvious that illegal drug use is damaging, and by “illegal” I mean the ones that were illegal in 1970 not what Oregon standard of today.  

I have no more fear of the China virus than I did of the Middle School Cough.  That was where parents would send there obviously diseased children to school and the kids thought it was funny to cough in the old man’s face.  I soldiered through and by the end could be coughed on repeatedly with no ill effects.  Flu is real.  People die of it all the time in spite of the vaccines.  Most either have no response or minor symptoms.  I have never taken the flu vaccine and I have not intention of taking the China virus vaccine.

I think it is obvious that everyone will eventually be exposed.  Most will not even notice.  Some will get sick.  A few will die.  It is called life.  Someone once observed that no one gets out of it alive.
