I went to the doctor yesterday for my annual pace-maker check-up. Since everything is going well and I don’t have any big physical issues we got to talking about the China Virus and the political situation. It is a good example of how far we should take people’s advice.
He was a total believer in all the propaganda about the virus. He thought I should take the vaccine. He saw no problems with it. He kept telling me that dying of Covid was a terrible thing. I am sure it is but to me the issues are the low chances of dying of Covid and the big chance of side effects from an untested drug. I would put more credibility in his opinions if he had not shared with me how the police officer in D.C. was killed with a fire extinguisher. He still believes the original lie even though the NY Times itself has admitted it was wrong. I wonder if his awareness of the China Virus scare is on the same level as his awareness of what is happening in D.C. I am now wondering how much I can listen to him about my heart. I guess he only listens to CNN and Uncle Joe.
At the same time I realize I should have listened more and talked less.
Experts are not always experts. Just because people are smart doesn’t mean they are wise. Just because they are educated doesn’t mean they are informed. Of course, all that applies to me also.

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.
Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

You might want to find a new doctor. I gave up my "family doctor" when I learned that I was far more accurate at diagnosing myself than he was. In fact, I consider him the reason that I ALMOST had a heart attack, because he didn't up my medication when he should have. He never did diagnose my congestive heart failure, though the heart doctor agreed instantly when I asked him about it. My heart doctor is a good one, he actually catches things before I do! - lol
ReplyDeleteThis IS my heart doctor.
