Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2021-131: Wildflower Watch: Milkweed by Any Other Name...

The neighbors told me it was milkweed.  When I went to my source for Texas Wildflowers it told me it was Antilope Horns.  I little further looking told me that AH is a type of MW.  This seems to be developing as a good year for them, whatever they are called.

For a couple of weeks I have been noticing some flowers that are there in the morning and not during the day.  I think they are called Evening Primrose.  The ones at the link above are pink.  Ours are yellow.  I think they also come in white.

One yard has something that I think is a Texas Dandelion.  It is a pale yellow with specks shooting out of the center.

Another lot has a sprinkling of what I am claiming to be Pincushion Daisy or Perfumeballs.  They develop a globular red head which is distinctive.  I can’t remember how they change as they move toward seed time.

There are some purples all over the place.  My guess is that they are Prairie Verbena.

Yellow flowers proliferate but there are so many slight variations that I can’t identify them much beyond “yellow flowers.”  Enjoy the mystery.

  1. Most milkweeds are good for butterflies. Our evening primrose here in WV are yellow, too.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
