I went down to get coffee and check out the breakfast at the hotel. Since it was an hour after the breakfast bar opened, I did not know what to expect. The one thing I did not expect was nothing but coffee. It seems they were not ready. Being the introvert that I am, I switched my inner extrovert button and engaged in a conversation with a lady who was also getting coffee.
“They can’t get any help,” She said. I replied, “It is that way all across the country.” At this point I made the mistake of assuming I was talking to an intellegent patriotic American. I said, “Why should people come to work when they are getting paid so much to stay home.”
I make that assumption a lot. In Texas I am often rewarded. In Virginia I was corrected. She tried to educate me, “They need to open the border so they can find some people to take these jobs Americans won’t take.” I pointed out how much people could make by staying at home. She was having none of it.
I decided not to point out that the border was already open. I didn’t remind her that Americans were working these jobs before the Covid police and the Proregressives* who want to make everyone dependent on the government had their way. She was free, white and 21 so there was little I could tell her. I also assume that she was a Democrat, wealthy, living in a gated community and knew no one who had voted for Trump. She was probably upset because she could not find a maid or a gardener.
We need to understand that the country is overrun, not only by illegal aliens but by the Ostrich Party who loves the feel of sand in their nostrils and believe that if they can’t see the lion stalking them he will go on to someone else. While an ostrich may not actually hide their head in the sand the same cannot be said for the elites.
Now that is a dish that does not go well with coffee.

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.
Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.
