Hey, you. Yes, you. Don’t look the other way. Don’t pretend that you don’t hear me.
I am guessing that a few years ago you were faithful to attending Sunday Morning worship. You might have even gone to Sunday school.
There are pastors out there trying to do it right. Most of them are in small churches, working a side job, hearing about the big name preachers and about ready to throw in the towel. I will admit that there are a lot of guys filling the pulpit that should be janitors at a local middle school. There are still those who are genuinely called, believe the Bible is the Word of God and have a personal relationship with their Lord.
So what is my issue?
You.
You have given up on the church. You have gotten used to sitting at home and if you feel like it watching a big name preacher on the screen. Don’t blame it on the Covid lockdown. You were there before all that nonsense started. You are still there. You might have heard someone complain about the state of the church. You might have said a few things yourself. Some of the big guns are doing a sterling job of proclaiming truth but you can’t sit there on your duff and think that you are doing your part.
I know one family of believers. It is actually three families over three generations. They are godly, talented people who have not darkened the doors of a church in years. I take that back. The elders went to church with me when they were visiting. After the service I heard nothing but nit picking.
If you are waiting for the perfect church to pop up on your radar then get ready for a long wait. Just as Utopia in politics does not exist, neither does Utopia in the church. It doesn’t exist in marriage or in children, but you already knew that. If Utopia had existed in the days of the Apostle Paul we would have none of his letters.
The world is in crisis. Our country is in crisis. The church is AWOL. Part of the reason is you are AWOL. Go find a church where you can make a difference. Make a pastor’s day. Maybe with your tithe he can quit his job driving a school bus and actually put in the time to give you the sermons you deserve.
Okay, maybe I was wrong at the beginning. Maybe it isn’t you. Then again...

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.
Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
