If you are a believer in the God of the Bible you are familiar with this concept of “everlasting” (5769) God. He is eternal. This is significant in such things as the difficulty of science in explaining what set the Big Bang to banging. What was the Prime Mover, the First Cause. Although they have the concept of infinity they cannot understand everlasting.
It occurred to me the other day that while we contemplate eternity we sometimes forget today. We read the term “everlasting to everlasting” and are impressed. In our awe we tend to forget that this everlasting God is also present in every moment in between everlastings. He is God today and tomorrow. The same Prime Mover that started it all keeps it going.
So relax. Take care of the things that are on your job description. Make sure that the soup on the stove doesn’t boil over. Don’t run out of ketchup. Remember to pay the utilities. Get some exercise. Hug your children. Complement your wife. Praise your husband. Take cookies to the neighbors. Volunteer for the church nursery. Your list may vary.
Leave the big items on God’s job description. Write your letters to your congressman but precede them with prayer because the influence on his mind comes from God, not you. Think about all the things that you can do nothing about. Can you prevent an EMP or massive sunspot? Didn’t think so. Can you force the federal government to balance its budget? Only from your personal Napoleon suite at the local hospital.
Your job is to be one of the Sodom 10, you know, the ten righteous that Abram could not locate when God offered to spare the city. You are to be salt and light not savior. (Posted, August 16, 2023, MOW)

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.
Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
